6e BPC (Bataillon de Parachutistes Coloniaux)

The 6th Colonial Commando parachute Battalion (6e BCCP)  was formed in Quimper, Brittany on May the 16th 1948, consisting of elements from the 1st Colonial Commando Parachute Demi-brigade. They disembark to Saigon in July 1949.
Renamed in 1952 as 6e Bataillon de Parachutistes Coloniaux (6e BPC) The battalion distinguished itself during fighting, but is dissolved after the battle of Dien Bien Phu 1954.

The Battalion was reformed in Marrakech on August the 1st 1955 and received the name 6th Colonial Parachute Regiment. They fight in French-Algeria until 1961 when they leave and regroup in Verdun.
In 1958 renamed 6th Marine Infantry Parachute Regement.
From January 1963 they were stationed in Mont-de-Marsan until June 30th 1998 when the unit was dissolved.
